The Board of Public Works meeting agenda included four items concerning property maintenance and compliance issues. Key discussions revolved around property at 102 H Street Southwest, where members debated obtaining bids for cleanup due to persistent unaddressed issues, despite previous extensions. For property at 259 Northeast B Street, a motion was carried to remove the item from the list after noting volunteer cleanup efforts and the city's subsequent debris removal. Regarding 76 8th Street Southwest, discussions focused on the property's overgrown condition, broken windows, and difficulty contacting the owner, leading to a motion to obtain bids for clearing the yard, addressing a root cellar, and repairing windows. Finally, for the new item, 1110 B Street Southeast, the Board discussed obtaining bids or dispatching a city crew for cleanup of accumulated debris, including tires and furniture, after the owner failed to comply with a 10-day notice.

The meeting covered several operational and financial discussions. Key financial topics included a $18,000 transfer from the general fund, and confirmation that chemicals for the year are paid for, with budget figures for 2025 and 2026 presented. The board reviewed participation data, including historical revenue from water aerobics and updated the swim team contract. Discussions focused on the upcoming pool season, setting the opening date for Memorial Day (May 25th) and the closing date as the first Saturday in August (August 8th). Staffing plans involve posting lifeguard, manager, and concession stand positions on the city website and Indeed, including a question about current certification status. Pool upgrades discussed included installing an awning (with plans to confirm installation procedures), procuring consistent composite lounge chairs (with a potential budget of $6,000 allocated), and considering a new baby slide. The swim team contract renewal was tabled to discuss potential revenue generation strategies, such as implementing a concession share (50/50) or charging an entry fee for swim meets, as it was noted the pool missed out on revenue from concessions and admission fees during past swim meets. The board also determined a need to establish a clear process for renting the new lockers installed last year. Additionally, the possibility of selling promotional banners for display on the pool fence was discussed.
